Hello there new survivor. You've plopped down your money and are ready to live happily ever after with fellow survivors in a post apocalyptic paradise after boring of that Single Player life! Sorry to break it to you, but it's not gonna happen...well not right off the bat. So here are some tips to keep you alive long enough for players on a server to trust you. Especially on DeadPixels. Settings here make it attractive to veterans of the PZ universe. If you are new to PZ, well you are going to learn a lot by dying a lot at first.
First thing. Stay calm and devise a plan. Check how many players are on and start making mental notes about characters and what they say in global. You can find out who is trustworthy, who is a killer, and generally where they are patrolling/living on the map. Next find a safe spot to check out the map if you aren't familiar with it and decide what place you are going to settle down at. For this scenario, we'll pick a secluded spot somewhere in the woods. Next you have to get your basic supplies. That's some food, water, and building supplies for your sweetmassive modest starting base. Depending on when you have joined, the popular spots for gathering these items have probably been well picked over. And remember that hunters will often camp these popular spots because they know that's where players will head to first. Like lions waiting at watering holes in the wild. Everything in the PZ world is risk vs. reward. As a fresh spawn it may be worth the risk. Later on you might want to be more careful when out looting.
So now that you have your basic supplies for building, head to your initial HQ spot to set up a little bit of a shelter and drop your stuff. Make sure you don't drop anything to mark the turnoff to your forest HQ. Or build it on a shortcut through the forest from one map to another. Easy way for a traveller to stumble upon your hard earned loot. Also don't make the mistake of killing zombies on the path to your base. Even dried blood on the road is a giveaway to the most persistent of hunters. Also remember to be far enough into the woods that noise won't give you away. Campfires, sawing, building will give away your location. Antique Ovens are worth their weight in gold for the silent light and warmth they give off. Also remember that big bases are easy to find. You can build a massive base, but make that a public front base much later on. Small bases and multiple drop off points are the key to long term survivability. Spread your risk and wealth with drop-offs in case a base is found. You'll still have plenty of supplies to start anew. Grab a map and compass to drop loot bags, handcarts, cellars etc behind trees in the woods and mark the coordinates.
Now lets move on to the next phase. Knowledge and weapons are power. Time to grab as many books as possible. Skill books, hydrocraft books to help you level up after your inevitable death and to make your survival much nicer. Find libraries, bookstores and the educated peoples of Kentucky with massive book dens. And while you are out. Hit up the Police Departments and Gun Stores to stock up on an arsenal to defend your new found treasures.
These first 3 steps should take you a bit to accomplish. It should give you enough time to learn players on the server and be trustworthy enough to maybe hook up with a veteran/community to give you even more tips. Until then...LEARN FROM EVERY DEATH and soon you will be a veteran in no time.
