Letter found on a cadaver alongside Kentucky Rt. 44
"Sisters, did you find your way to Knox County, too? I wonder how many of us there are left? If you've made it this far then Knob Creek held your interest as little as it did mine... I was holed up at Nichol's Elementary for three days, two of which I thought I was a goner. A large herd of the undead migrated into the area. On day three the pit in my stomach from both fear and lack of food grew so wide I was reminiscing of simply making a break out of that locker no matter the consequences. All alone hearing nothing but slow shuffles, breathy moans, and the markedly, unhinging uproars whenever one of those things latched onto a rodent... rodent... exactly how I felt; trapped like a rat in a cage. Gunshots and loud engines plowed through main street reduced the school to a few stragglers at the moment when I had just worked up the courage to make a bolt for it. Most surprising was the eternity it felt like waiting after the ruckus had died down... no more than an hour compared to the countless minutes huddled in that dark cell. I scavenged what I could before the few stragglers outed me. Something is different now. I see this place for what it really is... hell. Humanity is the enemy of this world. What if this drastic turn of events is nature's evolution in response to us and what we've done? Clarity is a beautiful thing. As for myself, I don't yet know in what regard I leave my mark, but I do know that those who join me will live free for as long as we can. We will not bow to the noisemakers, or any who hope to rule with the iron fist. Most importantly, we will not assimilate or stand idly by as another emerging community manifests itself to hinder our progress. I used to not believe in tales of mystical quality, but I do feel pressured by some unknown force.
I'm headed West towards West Point, ironically. Judging from the map, it's going to be quite a trek today, but I think I can make it into downtown after nightfall. I'm going to try my luck in an Office Building located just on the other side of the road from a Church. Top floor. If you are friend, then I welcome you to whatever humble accommodations I can muster until we are ready to depart elsewhere. If you are foe, just know that I take precautions. Well, daylight is burning and my pack is light on the essentials. Farewell, and godspeed."
